I have friends and family in long-term recovery, so I am loosely connected to Richmond’s recovery community.

Before starting this project in March 2022, I had prior contact with the following people, who appear frequently throughout this series.

David Rook: Due to having a mutual friend, we attended the same social gatherings on a handful of occasions between roughly 2017 and 2020. I’ve never had a personal relationship with Rook or any points of contention with him.

Anthony Grimes: In 2019, Grimes’ contracting company did some work on my house after he was referred by mutual friend. I’ve never had a personal relationship with Grimes or any points of contention with him.

Out of the dozens of people I interviewed for this project, I had previously met three of them. I did not have a personal relationship with those individuals.
