Interim Update: Recovery house regulation open for public comment

Under current Virginia regulation, a recovery house operator seeking to be state certified must be accredited by the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences (VARR) or Oxford House, Inc.

That regulation – which delineates a few other requirements and penalties for violations – is undergoing a periodic review. It is open for public comment until June 6.

  1. How do we comment. VARR is run by those that own the recovery houses. Maybe I’ll inspect my own car.

  2. Wow.. all comments hidden as of this afternoon except for “David” commenting how no changes should be made to the constant flow of money with zero oversight. I bet I know a David that would directly benefit from no changes being made to the legislation. I’m also willing to bet that he actively reported the previous comments as “defamatory” to get them hidden from public view in an attempt to continue controlling the public narrative.

  3. David used to be such a good dude. It’s crazy how new money and power change people. It really just shows how anonymity and self supporting are so important. Every dog has his day.

  5. There is a paucity of legitimate programs. There is heavy incentive for resident recidivism. There is a great deal of nepotism and dubious levels of professionalism.

Most of these programs are fair at best-those are the ones that keep people generally safe and use them as an income stream and then there are the bad ones that are run like prostitution rings and drug emporiums. Please stop this. There are good people that want to help.
